Delsey and Mizraim

A few weeks ago, I got a call on a Friday morning asking if there was any way for me to photograph their wedding … later in the same day! Sadly, their original photographer was “weathered out” (terminology used in Southeast Alaska when you can’t travel because of inclement weather…

Thankfully, it turned out I had the ability to move some obligations around and was able to help!

These two have been wonderful to work with. Delsey has been sweet and inviting and caring, even with big last minute changes! As with many weddings, as the schedule of the day was discussed, she had a calmness about any shifting timelines as the day unfolded. And Mizraim is the kind of guy you want in your corner! His car turns eyes, but his heart for others is really what is notable. You’ll see his love for Delsey come through in the images!

Also, I have to mention how amazing this band was. They came in from Puerto Rico just for the night and man were they good (and loud!) Everyone was on the dance floor and it was so much fun!

Okay, enough of the commentary Cody… See the rest of their photos here: https://photos.codyjbennett.com/Weddings/Delsey-and-Mizraim/

Jill and Rob

I had the pleasure of photographing Jill & Rob’s Wedding recently. We were all thankful for the weather, as we dodged what has been an unusually wet summer.

The more I review the photos in the editing process, the more I am taken at who they are – they are an easy-going couple who *love* to laugh. It was a great reminder to find joy in joking and simply having fun with each other.

Naturally, it was a small event, but definitely big on love.

As you’ll see, the relaxed ceremony was at Sandy Beach, while the reception was held at the Flight Deck, catered by The Hangar on the Wharf. Perfect for these two. 🙂

They are perfect for each other.

Congratulations!!

Natalie and Steve

I love a good party.

This summer we had the pleasure of photographing Natalie & Steve’s wedding day. These two are humble and loving and really know how to pull together a group of people who are excited for photos! The food was great and the decorations were sublime. If you were there, you know how much fun everyone had dancing, snapping photos, and genuinely enjoying the party.

I hope you enjoy these highlights. You can see the whole collection here: https://photos.codyjbennett.com/Weddings/Steve-and-Natalie

Northcutt Family Photos

I was just looking through some of my photos for the year and was smiling thinking about the fun we had with the Northcutt’s and extended family this summer. We spent some time out at the Arboretum, and loved watching the kids explore and family connect. Later we gathered at their home to capture a few more images to round out the collection. Take a look at this beautiful family!

Real Estate Work

I was recently contacted by an agent with RE/MAX® of Juneau about photographing property listings through the area. We discussed the potential market, and the fact that other agents are also looking for photographers to help fill in a gap. I don’t have an idea of how many other artists are being courted, but I was excited to engage.

I’ve always found myself attracted to the idea of capturing the beauty of homes and commercial spaces around town. While I’ve done commercial work in the past for various clients, I had only one example of Real Estate photography from many years ago…

Last weekend I captured the first home of the year – a small 3BR/2BA residence in the Mendenhall Valley. I was encouraged when I had saved the listing on Zillow to be able to show my wife, and (unbeknownst to me) she had seen them separately (because she got notice of the “save”). When we finally had time together, I brought it up and she preempted me to say that she liked the photos (she didn’t yet know that this was the property I had photographed!)

So, I’ve been steeping myself in Real Estate Photography forums and communities to see what rubs off. Unfortunately for my pocketbook, I am constantly interested in new cameras/lenses/toys, so I’ve been eyeing new flashes, drones, 3d capture devices, and more. We’ll see where it leads!

River Reminiscing

Just over 5 years ago, I was blessed to go on a rafting trip with a good friend, Dan Buck. He’s an amazing photographer, so I was especially excited to kick it in the backcountry to see him in action.

As a photographer, I don’t think my to-do list is ever done, it percolates all the time (and sometimes boils over). In the past week or so I realized that I never created any artifacts to capture the experience except for some amazing prints that I have hanging in my house… But I always wanted to do more. Along with my love of capturing events, I enjoy helping myself and others to transport back to the experience of a day or time in life. So, to that end, I decided to put together a book of the trip.

Take a look…

Heidi and Noah

I’ve known Heidi for nearly 20 years now and it’s so special to see what she has with Noah. These maternity photos were marked with laughter, sun, and some chilly wind. Their daughter arrived April 26th to two thrilled parents… Without further ado, take a look!

Jessica & Xavier

Yay for beautiful sunshine and wonderful weddings. This Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Jessica & Xavier’s wedding day. These two are a blast and they’ve got a tight-knit group of friends which made for lots of fun hanging out under a waterfall during the wedding party photos.

I’m just posting a few highlights; I was on staff for Becoming Images this time around, so Penny will get images processed and posted as soon as her wedding season calms down.

Enjoy!

Kimberley & Zachary

I had the good fortune to link up with Penny McGoey of Becoming Images to help photograph a beautiful wedding at the Twisted Fish with portraits at the Thane Orehouse property. The weather couldn’t have been more amazing, though we were expecting some sideways rain. For the rest, head over to http://becomingimages.com!

Angi & Sean

One of my favorite weddings. The weather was killer (almost too warm for Juneau) but it fit the hot-pink of the wedding party attire. These guys were fun, full of laughs and a joy every step of the way.

Take a look at a few highlights below!

Enjoy,

Olivia & Brice

Olivia & Brice came in from Missouri for their wedding at the Shrine of St. Therese. Their day was filled with beauty and antics (for instance, chasing several small dogs out of traffic). We shared in laughter and fun and the beauty of a cloudless Juneau day. Here’s one image I had shared on Facebook so their family & friends at a distance could see how stunning this duo is.

Kjerstin & Brandon

Just a few from Kjerstin & Brandon’s wedding. These two are amazing and have an amazing collection of people who love them. I’m such a lucky guy to have gotten the opportunity to photograph their wedding day. I’m stoked to have their album finished in the next few weeks!

Hannah & Kaleb

Love these guys. I’ve known Kaleb and the McGoey’s since they got into town, and it’s been fun to watch him grow up, graduate, and now get married. I’m not sure what it was about this ceremony, but I noticed myself tearing up behind the camera often. Good thing I have a big hunk of glass to hide my eye-sweat. 😉
